What is special about individualised infection medicine?
Individualised infection medicine deals with the individual prognosis and diagnosis of infectious diseases as well as tailor-made prevention and therapy for the benefit of the individual patient. The focus is on the individual patient and the best possible treatment.
To this end, interdisciplinary teams at CiiM examine individual infection courses. Existing routine data from the clinic is combined with newly collected molecular data on the individual patient and the pathogen in order to generate predictable parameters for the course of infection and therapeutic success with the aid of computer-assisted methods. This patient-centred and data-based approach of the CiiM provides the treating physician with important guidance for tailored prevention and therapy, thus enabling individual patient management and evidence-based medicine.
